The challenge

What the brief asked for.

After the Australian Human Rights Commission's Respect@Work report and the introduction of the Positive Duty under the Sex Discrimination Act, Rio Tinto needed workplace training that would land with a workforce that's diverse across age, role, location and gender - and skeptical of generic compliance modules. The Pilbara crews and Perth head office both needed it, but the room would look different in each location.

What we built

The program.

  • Sexual Harassment Workshop tailored to Rio Tinto's policies, terminology and reporting structures
  • Bullying & Discrimination program with Corporate Theatre scenes rewritten for site-specific contexts
  • Multi-format delivery across Perth head office and Pilbara mine sites, designed around shift cycles and FIFO rosters
  • Leader-specific track on duty of care, receiving disclosures and managing confidentiality
  • Continuous program improvement informed by post-session participant feedback
The result
94%positive participant feedback · 2024 cohort

Participants consistently rate the sessions higher than other training they've attended. The combination of credibility (a facilitator who's been on FIFO sites before), realism (Corporate Actors performing the actual grey-zone scenarios) and practice (small-group Rehearsal for Reality) is what drives the result.
